ドジョウはえら以外に腸から酸素を取り込むことができる。これから哺乳類は肺で酸素を取り入れことに加えて腸からも酸素を取り入れているのではないかと考え研究した人たちがいる。この研究でイグ・ノーベルj賞を受賞した。
受賞したのは東京医科歯科大学の武部貴則教授らの研究グループ。マウスやブタを使って肛門から酸素ガスを供給し、血中の酸素濃度が上昇することを確認した。

ほど良い距離感
最近になって近くの広瀬川に鷺が集まるようになった。興味あることに鷺は集まるが個体はそれぞれほど良い距離感を保っている。
